New Guangzhou University Inaugurated
A new large multi-discipline education establishment approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE), new Guangzhou University has been lately inaugurated through a merger of nine educational institutions of higher learning.
Among these are included Guangzhou Normal University, South China Construction College, Guangzhou University, Guangzhou Education College, Guangzhou Workers University, Guangzhou Textile College, and three others.
New Guangzhou University will launch on a multi-discipline course with a student body of 25,000, going in for higher professional education and reform of normal education. New systems and plans will be worked out for unified management and development and a raise of the level in education and work efficiency. In the light of the current education and resources, the university will see to it that most will be made use of these. It will set up 24 faculties from former 39 faculties and institute 37 specialties from former 83. It will also see that new training channels for teachers be opened, teaching level raised, managerial system reformed, teaching efficiency raised, rear services socialized.
