Military Port Opened to Outside Trade in China

Through 10 years' efforts made, Huludao, state-level naval port, has lately been declared to be open to outside trade in China.

Xu Zhiqiang, the first official and one of the pioneers for the opening of the port, told reporters that Huludao port began to apply for opening to the outside since 1990, but due to some naval port problems, the opening of the port had long remained in suspense. Till last year, the port got the opening approval by the State Council and agreement to set up customs, frontier defense checkpoints, entry and exit quarantine bureau. The General Administration of Customs has planned to set up Customs in opening the port to the outside world.

Affiliated to Shenyang Customs, Huludao Customs is put under responsibility for inspecting import/export of transport means, goods and cargo, tariff collection and countering smuggling.
