Chinese Archeologists Find Ancient TombArcheologists have discovered an unusual ancient tomb in northeast China which buries 35 bodies collectively. The tomb, dating back to the bronze age, is 31.5 meters long and 3.5 meters wide. Archeologists say the bodies were sent into the tomb at the same time and the cause of their death remains a mystery. The dead are aged between six months and 50 years old and there is an equal proportion of gender. Two women in their 30s seem to have taken a higher social status because they possessed more funerary objects. The bodies all lie face up, arms and legs bent, and heads towards the east. Buried together with them are pottery, jade, stone and mussel items. The tomb was discovered in a historical site in Tonghua city of northeast China's Jilin province, where archeologists have already found 56 tombs and a large number of relics. Archeologists say the discovery is significant for the study of ancient funerary custom.
