WTO to Help Developing Countries Participate in World TradeThe World Trade Organization (WTO) has designed a program to promote the participation of developing countries in the world trade, WTO Director-General Mike Moore said here Tuesday.In talks with Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin, Moore said the program will give priority to the development of commodity supplies, capacity building and strengthening enterprises in the developing countries. Trade ministers and officials of African countries are due to hold a meeting in Gabon in November to discuss the program, the spokesperson for the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry quoted Moore as saying. According to the spokesperson, Moore urged Ethiopia, which has an observer status in the WTO, to be official member of the organization. Seyoum expressed appreciation of the WTO for its special attention to Africa, saying that Ethiopia is considering the participation of the WTO. Moore arrived on Monday for a three-day official visit to Ethiopia.
