Chinese Yuanming Yuan Relics to Be On Display in HKThe three pieces of Yuanming Yuan relics recently acquired by Beijing's Poly Museum at two local auctions will be on display Tuesday at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, according to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Monday.The antiquities, on loan from the Poly Museum, include the bronze heads of an ox, a monkey and a tiger. They were parts of the Zodiac Fountain in Yuanming Yuan, which dated back to the Qianlong period (1736-1795) of the Qing Dynasty. The relics will be put on exhibition alongside some 600 items of art and craft in the Chinese Antiquities Gallery. The exhibition will run through May 24. "The display has been proposed by the Poly Museum to provide the people of Hong Kong with an opportunity to see the cultural relics. The Leisure and Culture Services Department welcomes the opportunity to facilitate the event," a museum spokesman said. |
