Confucius Culture University Opens in East ChinaThe Confucius Culture University opened Monday in the philosopher' s hometown of Qufu, in east China's Shandong Province.The university was jointly established by the Chinese Confucius Fund and Qufu Normal University, to promote the study of Confucianism and its influences on Chinese culture and society. Confucius, who lived about 2,500 years ago, has been respected for generations as China's "Great perfection, ultimate sage, and foremost teacher". His teachings promote the concepts of benevolence and traditional rites. |
