Environmental Protection Implemented in South ChinaAimed at arousing people's awareness of protecting the environment, a series of activities for Environmental Protection Month began in Guangzhou, HongKong, Macao, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai, all located along the Zhujiang River Delta in south China.During the month, communities, schools, and enterprises will receive free film tapes and TV series focusing on environmental protection, partially provided by the United Nations, the U.S., Britain, Germany, and Canada. Youngsters are being called upon to take part in these activities by creating paintings and writing articles on environmental protection. The Zhujiang River, also known as the Pearl River, is the fourth longest river in China, flowing down from Guangdong and Guangxi provinces. The Zhujiang River Delta is located at the entrance of the South China Sea, where it covers 40,000 sq. km in an areas inhabited by 20 million people. |
