Philippine President Leaves for State Visit to China
Philippine President Joseph Estrada Left Tuesday morning for a state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
This is Estrada's first visit to China since he assumed the presidency in mid-1998.
Speaking before departure at the airport, Estrada said his five-day trip is doubly significant as it marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During his visit, the Philippine president will hold talks with Chinese President Jiang to exchange views on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest. Estrada ends his visit on May 20.
