New Green Project to Promote Healthy Consumption

China will initiate a nationwide pilot Green Project this year to promote safe production, fast delivery of goods, and healthy consumption among the Chinese people.

This was announced in a circular jointly issued today by the State Administration of Internal Trade, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Public Health, and several other departments.

The departments will choose 10 green transportation corridors, 50 green markets, 20 green processing lines, and 20 brands of green goods as pilot units for the Green Project, the circular said.

Green Projects are programs for cultivating an environmentally sound market, ensuring product quality, promoting healthy and nutritious consumption, and building efficient networks for the transportation of commodities.

As people's living standards improve, their demand for healthier and more nutritious foods and a cleaner environment increases.

The country will establish a leadership group for the project, and pilot units will come from every province, municipality, and autonomous region, according to the circular.
