Mongolian Dictionary Highly Praised By Experts

A Mongolian dictionary that has taken almost half a century to compile has been widely acclaimed both at home and abroad.

Experts from Japan, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, Hungary, Russia, and Britain, are unanimous of their praise for the Dictionary recently published by the Mongolian People's Publishing House of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The Dictionary, containing over 70,000 Mongolian lexical entries and over three million words, is the largest dictionary of its kind ever published in China.

Nearly 100 scholars and experts participated in the compiling work.

The dictionary provides Slavic spelling of some Mongolian words in order to help readers learn and grasp the corresponding relations between the traditional Mongolian and Slavic Mongolian in written forms.

The publication of the dictionary is seen as an effort taken by the Chinese government to develop and protect the culture of ethnic minority groups.
