"Shaking Head Pills" Seized at Baiyuan AirportCustoms authorities at the Baiyuan Airport in south China's Guangdong Province seized 9.7 kg, or some 30,000 MDMA tablets, of an amphetamine drug. This was the largest quantity of this drug, known as "shaking head pills" in China, seized at the airport for several years.The tablets were found in luggage belonging to a passenger of Malaysian nationality on an Amsterdam-Beijing-Guangzhou flight on May 6. The suspect has been detained for further investigation. The drug stimulates the central nervous system, causing users to become sexually excited and sometimes shake their head violently. Since last year, Guangzhou customs authorities have uncovered a dozen cases of drug smuggling, seizing 34,475 grams of methamphetamine and 138.36 kg of other drugs. Eleven suspects have been detained in these cases. |
