Forum on Deng Xiaoping Theory Opens
A national forum for young people to exchange experience in studying Deng Xiaoping Theory was held Monday.
Present were Vice-President Hu Jintao and Vice-Premier Li Lanqing, who are members of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau.
Li Lanqing said that in recent years young people from all circles, in response to a call by the Party Central Committee, have made remarkable progress in studying and using Deng Xiaoping Theory. The forum exemplified their achievements, he said.
Deng Xiaoping Theory guides the Party and the people to push forward the socialist cause with China's own characteristics, and bonds the Chinese people as they work to rejuvenate the nation, Li stressed.
He urged that study of Deng Xiaoping Theory be combined with the current reform in the country's educational sector.
Ding Guan'gen, an alternate member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, presided over the meeting, which was also attended by Zhang Wannian, a state councilor and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission.
