South China's Scenic City to Hold Lotus Flower Festival

Guilin, one of China's most famous scenic cities in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will hold its second lotus flower festival from June 15 to July 31.

According to a press conference, 15,000 potted lotus flowers, with over 280 varieties, will be exhibited in 12 ponds inside the city's Qixing Park.

During the festival, a range of activities, with lotus flower as the theme, will be held, including a large contest in ikebana, sale of lotus flower-based snacks.

It is expected that some 300,000 people will visit the festival. The city successfully held a national lotus flower festival last year, which attracted more than 150,000 visitors.

Guilin, with a history of more than 2,000 years, is renowned for its green mountains, clear water and strangely-shaped stone formations.
