Danish PM Addresses CASS

Visiting Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen has said Friday that Denmark and China promise great potential for further cooperation in various fields.

Rasmussen made the remarks to the effect while addressing the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).

Briefing the 100-odd audience on Denmark's economic development and its social security system, the Prime Minister said that despite the vast differences between Denmark and China in history, culture and political system, the two share a common fundamental goal-- to work for social and economic development and the equal benefits of their people. Therefore, the two countries have great potentials for further cooperation in various fields, based on the fact that the two economies are strongly complementary.

In his speech, Li Tieying, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of the CASS, said that as China is building up its socialist market economy, Denmark's experience in building and improving its social security system is of significance for China to learn from.
