China's 1st Biological Information Research Center Set Up
China's first biological information research center was established Friday at the Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University.
The research center, consisting of seven researching personnel and a number of postgraduates, appointed Professor Chen Shuxin, a Chinese American with great achievements in biological engineering, genetic databank, e-commerce and internet systems, as director and chief scientist.
Professor Chen said the center will focus on collecting, sorting out and researching the use of biological information, building an agricultural industrial network, providing services for commercial research projects and training professional personnel.
Biological information is an advanced study combining biological science and information science. It introduces information technology into agriculture, biological engineering, medical industry and other fields to promote the industrialization of new and high technologies.
