Ningxia Attacked by This Year's 10th Sandstorm

A gale hit the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Thursday afternoon, which has brought a strong dust storm to this dry region in northwestern China.

The dusty weather swept across the entire region, tossing high- pressure electricity cables and shattering many windows of local houses, according to witnesses.

The dust storm turned the sky into a blanket of yellow. No casualties and major losses have been reported so far.

This year, dust storms have attacked many parts of the country, including Beijing, due to climate changes and environmental factors. Land erosion is once again of top priority for central and local governments.
