Construction of 10 Large Projects Soon to Begin in West China
It is reported that China will invest 23.2 billion in building the Xi'an-Hefei section of the X'an-Nanjing Railway and 18.2 billion in the 640 km-long Chongqing-Huaihua Highway. Some 17,000 km out of 35,000 km-long national trunk roads are located in west China.
The project of Xianyang International Airport of Xi'an will be launched to form an airline network in the western region.
The 953 km-long natural gas pipeline from Qaidam Basin to Lanzhou laid early this year will be able to transfer 2 billion cubic-meter gas each year.
From this year, China will return 5.15 million mu (15 mu =one hectare) of farmland to forest and afforest 6.48 million mu of wasteland and barren hills suitable for afforestation in the western region.
The ten large projects also include the potash fertilizer project in Qinghai Province, college infrastructure project in Sichuan Province, light train project of Chongqing.
