China Produces Most Advanced Hot-rolled Steel Sheet
A new process line just completed at the Anshan Iron and Steel Co. in northeast China enables this oldest steel giant in the country to produce the world's most advanced hot-rolled coiled sheet.
Anshan Iron and Steel Co. of Liaoning Province can manufacture hot-rolled coiled sheet with a thickness of 1.2 to 19 mm and a width of 800 to 1,630 mm in the annual amount of 3.5 million tons. Steel sheet is widely used in automobiles, shipping, pipelines, and the construction industry.
The process line was assembled with technology from Mitsubishi of Japan at a cost of 7.56 billion yuan (about 911 million U.S. dollars), the largest investment Anshan Iron and Steel Co. has made in its 82-year history.
