Sichuan Official Arrested for Accepting Bribes

A former senior official of southwest China's Sichuan Province has been arrested for accepting bribes, the Sichuan Provincial People's Procuratorate announced Thursday.

Zheng Daofang, former deputy director of the Communication Department of the provincial government, was also expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and fired from his post, said an official with the provincial CPC commission for discipline inspection.

Zheng has been found to have accepted abundant bribes many times in exchange for giving local construction units' favorable treatment in the biding for two major expressway construction projects.
