Chinese Wood Industrial Zone Launched

China has just launched a wood industrial zone in Jiashan, a booming county in east China's Zhejiang Province.

The China Wood Industrial Zone, covering a total area of 10 square kilometers, will focus on production of various wooden goods, such as veneers, floor boards, and furniture.

The zone is open to both domestic and overseas investors. A local source said all investors may enjoy preferential policies including tax breaks.

So far five Chinese companies have reached agreements to open wood processing plants in the zone.

There are more than 200 wood processing enterprises in Jiashan County, with a combined annual production capacity of 3.35 million cubic meters of wooden products, accounting for one-third of the country's total.
