Li Peng Visits Exposition during Hi-Tech Industries Week

Li Peng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, visited an exposition on the Third Session of the China (Beijing) International Hi-Tech Industries Week 2000 Wednesday evening at the Agricultural Exhibition Center in Beijing.
During the visit, Li Peng observed with great interest numerous high-tech demonstrations such as electronics information, modern telecommunications, biological medicine, environmental protection and new materials.
Li highly praised the exhibition. He said that developing science and technology is the key to strengthening the nation's power. The expo will also help spreading scientific knowledge in China.
Covering an area of over 20,000 sq m, the expo showcases state- of-the-art high-tech products from some 500 domestic and overseas enterprises. So far more than 50,000 people have visited the expo.
