Conference on Demobilized Army Officers Ends

The annual national conference on assignments for demobilized army officers ended in Beijing on May 10.

State Councilor Wang Zhongyu told the closing session that better relocating these former army officers is one way to show support for the development of national defense and the army.

This task is directly linked to the stability of the army, society and polity, as well as the development of the army and the economy, Wang said. He urged local governments and various departments to take effective measures to find better solutions for the resettlement of demobilized army officers.

Yu Yongbo, a member of the Central Military Commission and head of the General Political Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, also spoke at the meeting, noting that one difficulty this year is that local governments are engaged in their own restructuring programs.

Song Defu, minister of personnel and head of the Group on Assignment of Demobilized Officers under the State Council, also attended the meeting.
