Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs
China is looking forward to the upcoming state visit to China by Philippine President Joseph Estrada, said Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing during his meeting Wednesday with Domingo Siazon, secretary of foreign affairs of the Philippines.
China believes that this visit will make important contributions to the development of bilateral ties, Li said. He also expressed his satisfaction with the advancement of Sino- Philippine relations, saying that bilateral cooperation has witnessed significant progress in the fields of politics, economy, education, and science and technology, as well as education, since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 25 years ago.
Siazon arrived on Tuesday for a working visit at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Tang Jiaxuan.
He said that he made the current China trip to prepare for President Estrada's visit. The Philippine government and people sincerely hope that the president's visit will turn out to be a success, he added.
