Brown Giant Panda Again Found in Qinling Mountains
A farmer recently ran into a brown giant panda in the Foping National Nature Reserve deep in Qinling Mountains, Shaanxi Province. This is the fourth of its kind ever found in this area where pandas concentrated most on earth.
Since the first giant panda was found in Qinling Mountains about 40 years ago, almost all of the pandas people have ever discovered are of white and black. In 1985, observers saw the first scientifically recorded brown giant panda by a stream in this nature reserve.
According to an expert in the study of giant panda in the nature reserve, since the third brown giant panda was discovered in 1991, protectors and local villagers have no longer seen this kind of "queer" giant panda which is the "most beautiful in the world".
He said that this kind of panda is not lonely, it's of a unique color-type.
Giant panda is a kind of 3 million-year-old species. These pandas are docile and lovely but weak in reproduction and self-defense. At present, there are only about 1,000 giant panda left in the world.
The beautiful mountains in Foping are one of the panda's paradises on Earth. At the center of Foping where panda are most densely distributed, there is one giant panda in each 2.5 km.
