University Computer Festival Opens in Beijing

Activities for the last leg of the Computer Festival for Chinese University Students were held on May 9 in Beijing.

Beijing is the last stop of this nationwide computer promotion event, following Guangzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xi' an, and Shenyang.

Exhibitions and computer competitions will be held at more than 10 universities in the capital, including Beijing University, People's University, and Qinghua University.

Jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the People's Daily, and 45 universities, the festival opened on March 8 and will run until May 20.

The event is displaying the newest computer and Internet products, promoting computer knowledge, and increasing exchanges among universities in the field of information technology.

Computer manufactures and internet content providers in China, including the China Merchants Bank, the 8848.net, and Zhaodaole.net, have brought along their latest products.

A series of seminars and contests will be held to provide college students with an opportunity to keep up with the latest in the world of computers.
