Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan held talks Tuesday with Domingo Siazon, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

The two sides exchanged views on issues of common concern, especially on the forthcoming state visit to China by Philippine President Joseph Estrada.

The development of a long-term and stable good-neighborly and cooperative relations of mutual trust conforms to the common interests of the peoples of the two countries, which are close neighbors, Tang said.

China attaches importance to the visit by Estrada, Tang said, adding that China is willing to cooperate with the Philippine side to ensure the visit a complete success.

Siazon said that Estrada is looking forward to his China trip. He noted that China is Philippine's most important neighbor and that Philippine attaches importance to developing its ties with China.

He said that he believes Estrada's visit to China will make positive contributions to the further development of bilateral relations.
