The company will join the Beijing Urban Construction Group and Shanghai Construction Group to build the threatre, designed by French architect Paul Andreu.

The project is scheduled for completion in February, 2003.

The Hong Kong-listed contractor has also recently been awarded the main contract for a reclamation project in Penny's Bay on Lantau Island, where a Disneyland theme park will be built, the firm said in a statement.

The reclamation project, worth 3.98 billion Hong Kong dollars (US$512 million) will be done under a joint venture between HKC and dredging company HAM Group from the Netherlands.

The 3.6-billion-dollar Disneyland theme park is expected to be completed in 2005.
