Australian, British Airlines Set Up Office in HKTwo of the world's leading international airlines, Qantas and British Airways, have jointly set up a new integrated office and a one-stop travel center in Hong Kong, a senior Qantas official announced Tuesday."Our new combined operations with British Airways in Hong Kong will offer passengers more convenience, greater choice and improved customer service," Geoff Dixon, deputy chief executive officer of Qantas, said at a press conference here Tuesday afternoon. The new travel center, staffed by a team of specially-trained travel consultants, will assist customers with their travel plans in a relaxed atmosphere, Dixon said. The new structure integrates telesales, ticketing and marketing, offering passengers 45 flights each week to Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Brisbane, Perth, Singapore, London, Taipei and Manila, according to Dixon. Hong Kong is a strategic point in Asia for Qantas and British Airways and by working closely together they can ensure that both airlines are in the best position to meet the challenges of this competitive industry, British Airways Commercial Director Carl Michel said. "This investment also confirms our commitment to and confidence in Hong Kong and will strengthen our ability to take advantage of the improving economic performance of the region," Michel said. |
