Three Guangxi Officials Arrested for Bribery

Three officials from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the CEO of a local company were recently arrested for taking bribes.

According to local sources, the three corrupt officials are She Guoxin, formerly an assistant to the chairman of the regional government and head of the regional bureau of finance, Zhu Zhitian, formerly a deputy head of the regional bureau of communications, and Gan Weiren, formerly a deputy secretary-general of the regional government. Du Baocheng, formerly chairman of the board and general manager of Sizhuang (Strong) Co. Ltd. was also arrested.

The four cases are still being further investigated, according to sources.

This move demonstrates the determination of the Chinese governments at various levels to clamp down on corrupt officials across the country.

Previously, Cheng Kejie, formerly chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Regional Government and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC), as well as Xu Bingsong, formerly vice chairman of the regional government, and Li Chenglong, vice mayor of Guigang, were also arrested for taking or giving bribes. Cheng has been charged with abuse of power and seeking illegal gain.
