Individual Investment is on the Rise in Shanghai

Since the Individually funded Enterprise Law was implemented two months ago, the enthusiasm for individual investment is surging high persistently in Shanghai. By April 3, 728 new individual-owned enterprises had been put up, and those established in March increased by over 1.5 times compared to that in February.

The individually funded enterprises witness two characteristics in their development: One is that those developed in suburbs are obviously faster than that in the city proper. For the time being, of the 728 individual-owned enterprises, 554 are registered in the suburban areas, and 174 registered in the city center. It is so distributed because many private business communities are concentrated in suburban areas and the cost for establishing individually funded enterprises (particularly productive ones) in suburbs is relatively lower than that in the center of the city. The second feature is reasonable distribution of trades: statistics show that among those individually funded enterprises 450 are engaged in the secondary industry, accounting for 62% of all and they are mainly located in suburbs. There are 246 enterprises engaging in the tertiary industry, among which that are engaged in commerce and services are mainly disposed in central city, conforming to the industrial policy of Shanghai.
