"A Historical Moment in Macao" Off Press

A ceremony marking the publication of a large picture album entitled "A Historical Moment in Macao" was held in Macao May 8. The Album consists of more than 600 pictures recording big events in Macao within 48 hours after its return to the motherland. An exhibition of over 80 pictures from the album was opened in the meantime under the same title.

Edmund Ho Hau-wah, chief executive of the Macao SAR government, Zong Guangyao, director of the Chinese Liaison Office in Macao, Yuan Tao, special commissioner from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Macao and Ma Wanqi, president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Macao attended the opening ceremony.

The album is a work formed of two parts, "A Moment in History" and "The Trace of History", jointly published by the Association of Chinese Arts and Culture in Macao and Ming Bao Press in Hong Kong. The pictures carried in album, taken from December 19, 5am, to 21, 5am,1999, represent Macao's return from a historic and cultural point of view.

Found in the album are also speeches delivered by Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Portuguese President Jorge Sampaio at the handover ceremony, editorials from newspapers at home and broad, as well as historical data of Macao.
