Beijing Holds Symposium on Talent Exchange and Technological Cooperation

The International Symposium on Talent Exchange and Technological Cooperation of Developing Countries, jointly held by Chinese Government and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), opened in Beijing on May 8.

The theme of this symposium is "National Cohesion and International Talent Exchange". It is reported that experts, scholars and government officials from 13 countries and regions in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America will conduct discussions and swap experiences relating to the trend of international emigration, the controls on personnel exchange of developing countries and other topics.

It's also the 6th international conference of the United Nations on the "Program for Imparting Technology Through Returned Overseas Nationals". This program was first launched by the UNDP in 1976 in order to alter the situation of single-way flow of talented people from developing countries to developed nations. Since the program was first carried out in China in 1980, it has helped nearly 2,000 experts and scholars residing abroad come back to China for visits and for providing technological advice in the fields of economy, culture, science and technology, education.

This symposium is also a part of the 3rd Beijing International High-tech Industries Week.
