Chinese PLA Deputy Chief Staff Meets Pakistani Guests

Qian Shugen, deputy chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Monday with Saeed Zafar, commandant of Pakistan's National Defense College, and his delegation.

Qian said that China and Pakistan are close neighbors linked by rivers and mountains, and their all-weather friendship has stood the test of time, adding that the Chinese people and armed forces have made efforts to promote the development of relations between the two countries and their armed forces.

He expressed his appreciation and gratitude for Pakistan's support for China on the Taiwan, human rights and Tibet issues. He also briefed the guests on China's viewpoint on the international and regional situation as well as China's position on the Taiwan issue.

Zafar said he believes that his visit will help promote friendship and cooperation between the two armed forces, and military academies in particular.

He said that Pakistan will continue to pursue the one China policy, and make its efforts to consolidate and develop Sino- Pakistani friendship and cooperation.
