Federation Holds Anti-"Taiwan's Independence" Forum

The All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese held a workshop on anti-"Taiwan's independence" and promoting the reunification of China on May 8 in the capital.

Lin Zhaoshu, chairman of the federation, addressed the forum. He said the cross-straits relations has now entered a crucial period and the peaceful reunification is related to the common interests of all the Chinese people including those in Taiwan and overseas.

"Taiwan's independence", in any form, must be opposed by all the Chinese people, he stressed, noting that the Chinese people, at home and abroad, are eager for the peaceful reunification of the motherland.

Reunification will enable Taiwan compatriots to share the dignity and glory of the People's Republic of China with the Chinese people from different ethnic groups, Lin said. Reunification will also promote cross-straits cooperation in economic and science, bring about prosperity for both sides, and realize the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, he added. The chairman proposed his Federation play a role in promoting cross-straits exchanges in the economic and cultural fields. He expressed the hope that all the Chinese people at home and overseas will join hands in pushing forward the development of cross-straits ties and the complete reunification of the motherland.
