The 3rd Beijing International Hi-Tech Industries Week Opened
The 3rd Session of the China (Beijing) International Hi-Tech Industries Week 2000 officially opened in Beijing on May 8.
Participating in the international event are 61 government and corporate delegations from more than 50 countries and regions as well as some international organizations such as the United Nations and the European Union. Thirty-one Chinese provinces and municipalities have also sent delegations to the event.
With a total area of over 20,000 sq m, the event has more than 900 booths displaying the world's latest scientific and technological achievements. In addition, some 190 high-ranking officials and world famous experts, scholars and entrepreneurs have been invited to give speeches at 55 seminars.
Eleven economic and trade negotiations and 20 large international and state-level exchanges will focused on new and high technologies during the week.
The hi-tech week is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Beijing Municipal Government.
