Chinese Acupuncture Cures Cerebral Vascular Diseases

A group of doctors in Tianjin have reportedly succeeded in treating more than 13,000 cases of cerebral vascular diseases by using acupuncture.

The clinical application of "Xingnao Kaiqiao" was created by Shi Xuemin, president of the No. 1 Hospital Affiliated to Tianjin Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It has been proved to have cured 49.37 percent of all cases.

Shi and his colleagues have developed some new acupoints to treat anuresis and incontinence of urine, dysphagia, hysterical paralysis, atrophy, and blindness.

Over 4,000 patients have been treated for apoplexy from various countries. Another 3,000 Chinese and foreigners have studied acupuncture at the Institute.

The hospital has opened branches in more than 30 countries including the United States, Japan, Germany, and Canada.
