Deng Xiaoping Theory College Known to Central ShanxiDuring the May Day holidays, 800 middle-aged and young cadres from central Shanxi were completely engrossed in cudgeling their brains about a special thesis, Essence of Deng Xiaoping Practical and Realistic Theory. As learners of Deng Xiaoping Theory, they are required each to write an essay about what they have gained from their semestral study at the college.Facing the challenge of economic globalization and knowledge economy, learning Deng Xiaoping Theory in a thoroughgoing way has become more and more important for cadres in the region. Deng Xiaoping Theory College was formally opened to cadre enrollees in December 1998. The college has instituted a systemic teaching program for theoretical study, employing accomplished experts and scholars noted in China. The enrollees are mainly from among cadres under 45 in the region. Founding of the college has started a new way to improve the qualifications of cadres in China. Lin Yuping, secretary of Zuoquan County, said every time when I study the theory, I become enlightened. No one is absent from class during their study at the college. The attendees have got praise from their teachers for their studious spirit. Altogether, 4680 cadre students have been turned out in over one year's time from the college. |
