Chinese Enterprises Stress Use of "Green Card"
To realize a coordinated development of economy, society and the environment and to meet the need of international competition, more and more Chinese enterprises are striving for authentication of the international environmental management system, so as to make their own green cards that lead them to the international community.
The authentication work under the ISO14000 system, a standard set for environment-oriented enterprise management, is being carried out among Chinese enterprises.
As the largest economic and technological development zone in China, the Tianjin Development Zone has formally started the work of establishing an ISO14000 environment-oriented management system. It is the third IS014000 national demonstration zone set up in accordance with international standard and with the approval of the Chinese government. Prior to this, Suzhou and Dalian economic development zones had successively passed the ISO14,000 system authentication.
ISO14,000 is a set of internationally recognized standards for environment management. Its aim is to standardize the activities of enterprises and social organizations, and environmental conducts related to products and services, save as much resources as possible, and protect the global environment. Since it was first set up in 1996, the ISO14000 international environmental standard has been introduced in many countries and regions around the world.
Environmental protection experts here maintain that the popularization of the ISO14000 serial standard worldwide is the mainstream of the economic development and environmental protection, which can change the images of the government organs and the enterprises, eliminate the international "green trade barriers", expedite the internationalization of regions, and help the enterprises enter the international market.
Since the Chinese government first adopted the ISO14000 system, more than 200 enterprises have obtained the authentication. Motorola, Inc. in Tianjin Development Zone is one of the enterprises which first obtained the ISO14000 authentication in China.
