All circles in Hong Kong Special Administration Region (HKSAR) will give full support to the government's bid for the 2006 Asian Games, according to a join statement lately released by chairmen of 18 districts in HK.
The statement pointed out that a regional or world sports meet like the 2006 Asian Games will considerably help raise Hong Kong's image in the international community, showcase the achievements accomplished in Hong Kong following the "one country, two systems" principle of the Chinese central government. Meanwhile, people from various parts of the world will by themselves witness and appreciate the new atmosphere of freedom, openness, prosperity and stability in Hong Kong after its return to the motherland.
Though "invisible" yet "benefits" to be reaped will be on a regional and world scale from a large sports meet like the 2006 Asian Games for its unprecedented and in-depth effect in promoting HK's stability and prosperity in a long run.
