Violin maestro Kyung-Wha Chung of the Republic of Korea met with music fans in Beijing on May 7. Chung's agent formerly arranged her China debut on April 24, which was postponed because she caught a bad cold last month. However, Chung re-scheduled her performance to May 9 at Shanghai Concert Hall and May 10 at the Century Theater. "Music is not only a career for me, but also a life's devotion," Chung said. "I will provide the Chinese audience with my best performance."
At the recital on May 10, Chung is scheduled to play Violin Sonata in A Major by C. Franck, Tzigane by Maurice Ravel and other pieces by famous composers.
At Chung's Beijing performance, she will be accompanied by Israeli pianist Itamar Golan, regarded by international music critics as an equal partner who perfectly matches Chung's musical conceptions.
In a career spanning more than 25 years, Chung is one of the most outstanding musicians in the world, gaining great fame and performing with many great orchestras.
