Romania Reaffirms One-China Stance

President Emil Constantinescu Saturday reiterated Romania's one-China stance and vowed not to develop any official ties with Taiwan or invite Dalai Lama to his country.

Meeting with Chen Delai, Chinese Ambassador to Romania, Constantinescu noted that Romania and China have established a special friendly cooperative relationship, and it is in the interest of Romania to further develop such relations in various fields.

Friendship between the two countries should last for generations, he said.

Developing relations with China is a priority in Romania's diplomacy, the president told Chen, saying that Romania is willing to serve as a door leading China to eastern and central Europe, and a bridge between China and the European Union after it joins the 15-nation bloc.
