Fifth National Games for Disabled Opened in Shanghai
Chinese President Jiang Zemin sent a greeting letter to the games from Beijing and said the Chinese people have been giving all their concerns to the life of those disabled in China. And the 60 millions disabled people in the country will have better and brighter futures as China's reforms and modernization movement are driving forward. The largest ever national games for the disabled has drawn a total of 6,000 participants including 1,805 disabled athletes from some 35 local delegations from all over China, including Hong Kong and Marco. The eight-day games featured 11 special sports of athletics, swimming, table tennis, shooting, weightlifting, badminton, judo for blinded, gate ball, wheelchair basketball, and sitting volleyball. The Fifth National Games for Disabled will ended on May 14. | |
