President Jiang Congratulates Putin Over His Inauguration as Russian PresidentChinese President Jiang Zemin sent a message of congratulation to Vladimir Putin after he was inaugurated as Russia's new president in an official ceremony in the Kremlin Sunday.In a message addressed to Putin, Jiang said that on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and also in his own name, he expresses heartfelt congratulations to Putin's inauguration as the president of Russian Federation. On the Sino-Russian relations, Jiang said that safeguarding peace and security in the region is in the interests of the two countries. China and Russia take the same responsibilities for pushing forward the process of building a multipolar world and establishing a fair and reasonable new international order, the message said. President Jiang said he believed that in the new historical period, Sino-Russian cooperation in all fields will be strengthened, and the strategic partnership between the two countries will be deepened.
