Belgian Missile Escort Vessel Begins First China Visit
The Belgian missile escort vessel Wandelasr, with more than 170 naval servicemen, arrived in Shanghai Saturday for a six-day visit, the first ever to China by a Belgian warship.
Hou Yuexi, commander of the Shanghai base of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), said in a meeting with the captain, surnamed Slootmans, of the lightly armed warship that the visit will further the mutual understanding and exchanges between the armed forces of the two countries, especially the two navies.
The Belgian guests also visited a Chinese missile escort vessel at the Wusong naval port later Saturday.
