Shantou City Reports More Exports

Shantou, a special economic zone (SEZ) in south China's Guangdong Province, exported 931 million US dollars of goods in the first quarter of this year, tripling last year's figure.

According to statistics, general-trade exports reached 779 million US dollars, accounting for 83.7 percent of the total and representing a year-on-year increase of 681 percent.

The city's state-owned enterprises exported commodities worth 717 million US dollars, soaring by 441.2 percent.

However, processing-trade exports fell by 22.7 percent to 152 million US dollars. Exports of foreign-funded enterprises also continued to fall.
