Large Fertilizer Production Base in Guizhou

Construction work has begun on a large production base for nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium compound fertilizer.

The 900-million-yuan production base is located in Xifeng County, in southwest China's Guizhou Province.

It will produce one million tons of compound fertilizer annually when work is completed by May next year. Annual sales are expected to reach 1.7 billion yuan.

The production base will be invested solely by Xiyang Refractory Materials Corporation in Haicheng, in northeast China's Liaoning Province.

This will be Guizhou's largest source of funds, according to Deputy Governor Long Chaoyun.

General Manger of the Xiyang Corporation, Zhou Furen, said that the project is prompted by the national campaign to develop west China.

Guizhou's deposits of phosphorus minerals account for 78 percent of the country's total.
