Passenger arrivals in Macao via sea, land and air routes exceeded 720,500 in March this year, a sharp increase of 26.1 percent over the same month of 1999, the latest official statistics show in Macao Friday.
Passenger arrivals from China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), the mainland and Taiwan accounted for 52.1 percent, 28.4 percent and 12.7 percent respectively, according to figures released by the Statistics and Census Services of the Macao SAR government.
In the first three months of the year, passenger arrivals in Macao were nearly 2.2 million, a rise of 22.9 percent over the same quarter last year.
In particular, the number of passengers from Hong Kong rose 11. 1 percent, and those from the mainland areas of China and the Republic of Korea showed considerable growth of 66.1 percent and 43.1 percent.
