Chinese Vice-Premier Li Lanqing said in Beijing on Thursday that juvenile education is crucial to the country's socialist modernization drive and the future of the whole Chinese nation.
Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC), made the remark in a letter to mark the 40th founding anniversary of the Beijing Jingshan School, a prestigious primary and secondary school.
The school also held a special ceremony today to unveil a bronze statue of the late senior Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, to commemorate his consistent support of the school's education reform.
