Wall Street Stocks Fall in Second Consecutive Day

Wall Street stocks fell sharply in the second consecutive session Wednesday as the latest data showed rising inflationary pressures.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell nearly 251 points or 2.3 percent at 10,480. That extended its loss of 80.66 points Tuesday.

Broader stock indicators were also lower. The technology heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 78 points, or 2.1 percent at 3,707.

Investors believe two latest reports on factory order increase and shortage of workers would prompt the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates again in a pre-emptive move to keep inflation at bay.
