Liaoning Clinches First Division A Win

Liaoning Fushan, last year's runner-up, recovered soon from a car accident which wounded three of their starters to clinch their first win of the season after eight rounds competition at the Chinese Division A soccer league on Sunday, holding off Shenzhen Ping'an 2-1 at home.

Li Rao's smart pushing shot gave the victory-thirsty Liaoning a 1-0 lead in the vanishing minutes of the first half. But Shenzhen rallied at 1-all with only seven minutes into the second half as Wen Guanghui scored in front of the goal mouth.

The Liaoning side had no winning record since the season started in early March and was suffered a worse setback when their ace defender Qu Leheng is in the hospital being paralysis, and starting strikers Zhang Yuning and Wang Gang were badly injured in a car accident last Wednesday night.

The three teammates were siting in the same car which turned off the road and crashed against a tree after they had dinner in a restaurant. But striker Li Jinyu would not accept another evened game as he headed the winning goal in the last minute before the end of the second half.

Jilin Aodong also snapped a seven-game winless plague by beating visitors Beijing Guo'an 2-1 on Sunday. Sichuan Quanxing joined in the leading pack with a 2-1 over Shenyang Haishi. Defending Champion Shandong Luneng scored 3-0 whitewash over Tianjin Taida.

There are five teams tied with 15 points after eight rounds in the 14-team home-and-away-league. Shanghai Shenhua, lost 2-1 on Sundaly, saw their five-game winning streak was snapped by three-time champion Dalian Shide.

The two sides were the only teams to win the pro league title beside Shandong. In other games play on Sunday, Chongqing Longxin defeated Qingdao Hainiu 1-0. Sichuan Quanxing beat Shenyang Haishi 2-1 after leading the first half 2-0 and Yunnan Hongta took their fifth win by downing Xiamen Xiaxin 1-0.
